About pricing:
The quality of the pedigree as well as the quality of the chinchilla determines pricing. We have some chinchillas with show lines. Their kits will likely be worth more due to their high quality. However, there is no guarantee that any chinchillas for sale are show quality, as they have not been looked at or graded by a judge. Additionally, it is not possible to tell if a kit is going to be breeding quality. Based on certain factors, such as fur quality, size, and pedigree, a kit may be more likely to be of breeding quality. However, kits do not come with a guarantee that they will grow into adults of breeding quality. It is a buyers responsibility to understand that, if a kit does not develop into an adult of adequate size and quality, it should not be bred and should be kept as a pet only.

About selling chinchillas to be used in breeding:
We are very selective about who we sell to, but we are especially critical when it come to selling chinchillas that will be used for breeding. We will not even sell a chinchilla for breeding unless we consider it of breeding quality and would breed it ourselves, given the room and means. We feel we have a responsibility to improve the species through our efforts. This includes a responsibility to sell only breeding quality chinchillas for breeding and a responsibility to determine whether or not the potential mate is of breeding quality as well. We will not sell chinchillas for breeding if they will be paired with chinchillas with unknown backgrounds. These chinchillas have the potential to carry genetic conditions that can be passed down to their offspring, such as heart murmur, malocclusion, diabetes, seizures, etc. We will not knowingly allow our name to be tied to the pedigrees of chinchillas who should not have been bred.

Guarantee:
All chinchillas purchased from ChinchillAZ.org are guaranteed to be healthy and free from illness or genetic disorder at the time of sale. If a genetic disorder is found within one (1) year after purchase, the chinchilla may be returned to ChinchillAZ.org and exchanged for an animal of equal value when one becomes available. This exchange will be done only if there is a signed and notarized document from a licensed veterinarian confirming a genetic disorder. A refund is offered to the buyer only if an animal perishes within the first forty-five (45) days of purchase due to a genetic disorder. Again, the seller must be provided with a signed and notarized document from a licensed veterinarian confirming a genetic disorder as being the cause of death.

Veterinary bills are associated with the costs of owning an animal. The seller will not reimburse the buyer for any veterinary bills.

Within one (1) year of purchase, if the chinchilla begins to fur chew and it is determined that this is not due to a stressful environment or a cage mate, the animal can be returned to ChinchillAZ.org and exchanged for an animal of equal value when one becomes available.

Please note that none of the chinchillas currently at ChinchillAZ.org have ever had major illnesses or problems with fur chewing and no genetic disorders have ever been found.

Care package:
Each chinchilla sold comes with a care package that will last for approximately two (2) or more weeks. This package will include pellets, hay, treats, rosehips, and oats. This should allow buyers plenty of time to obtain their own supplies, even if they have to order them online. Additionally, you will be given all pedigree information for the chinchilla. Pictures of the chinchilla may be burned to CD upon request or can be sent via email.

Delivery:
Since we are based out of Tucson, Arizona, there are only a few months out of the year when shipping is possible. Shipping will not be considered unless temperatures are in the mid 70s or below. We can arrange to deliver chinchillas throughout Arizona as well as to southern California, southern New Mexico, southwestern Texas, southeastern Nevada, and southern Utah. We are happy to work with buyers to arrange for delivery through The Chinchilla Railroad. If we deliver chinchillas to any location other than in Tucson, we ask to be reimbursed for gas and time BEFORE the delivery is scheduled. Depending on location, this price will vary. Please contact us for more details. Local pick-up is available and must be scheduled at least three (3) days in advance.

Payment:
A chinchilla may be placed on hold for ten (10) days until a deposit equal to $50 or 50% of the sale price (whichever is greater) is received. Deposits can be made through PayPal (all major credit cards), money order, or cash. Buyers are asked to pay the PayPal service fee (2.9% of the total amount + $.30) if using PayPal. All remaining balances must be paid prior to pick-up or delivery via PayPal or at the time of pick-up or delivery with cash. Money orders will not be accepted at this time. Chinchillas must be picked up within ten (10) days of weaning or an alternative resolution must be agreed upon between the buyer and seller. If no agreement has been reached and the chinchilla is not picked up or delivered within ten (10) days, a boarding fee of $2 per day will be added to the sale price until the total deposit amount has been exhausted, at which time the seller reserves the right to find an alternative home for the chinchilla and the buyer forfeits the full deposit. Deposits may be refunded in full before the chinchilla is weaned or within thirty (30) days of payment on adult chinchillas, so long as the chinchilla has not already been picked up or delivered and delivery to another location has not already been attempted.

Shipping stipulations:
If room is readily available, chinchilla(s) can be held until weather permits shipping, which is generally in December. Please keep in mind that the temperatures in Arizona, any states for flight connections, and the arrival state must consistently be below 75 degrees before shipping will be considered. If this is done, the deposit for the chinchilla(s) becomes non-refundable, unless the seller deems the animal(s) can no longer be sold. The $2 per day charge will not apply in this situation. If a buyer elects to have a chinchilla shipped to them, they will be responsible for the cost of shipping through a major airline (approximately $120), the health certificate ($50), and the cost of a carrier with food dish and water bottle ($40). Approximately a month before the anticipated date of shipping, the remainder of the price of the chinchilla(s) and all costs associated with shipping must be paid in full. Shipping will not take place if all of charges have not been paid, a new buyer will be found, and any deposit provided will not be refunded.

Seller's choice:
The seller reserves the right to refuse to sell a chinchilla for any reason. We are very picky about placing our chinchillas and will not allow them to be sold into an environment that we feel may be harmful, neglectful, or otherwise unpleasant for the chinchilla. Chinchillas will only be sold to individuals who are 18 years of age or older. If necessary, photo identification will be required.

After purchase:
You are welcome to contact us with any questions you might have before or after the purchase of our chinchillas. We will do our best to provide answers as quickly as possible or direct you to another resource for assistance. If, at any time or for any reason, you find that you need to find a new home for a chinchilla purchased from ChinchillAZ.org, we strongly encourage you to contact us, as we will generally buy back for the original purchase price or help you by housing the chinchilla until you are able to care for them once again.
