ChinchillAZ.org is based out of Tucson, Arizona, and includes a variety of
animals, including humans, six chinchillas, one dog, and three cats.
Elizabeth Bockman is a native Tucsonan and has never lived anywhere else. She
works as a Veterinary Technician for an emergency facility, having graduated in May of 2007. She plans to sit for her national boards in June of 2008. Upon completion, she will be a Certified Veterinary Technician. In her spare time, she enjoys
sending time at home with the animals, watching movies, listening to music, and messing around with photography.
Mara is a black and white puppy.
She was adopted from the Foundation for Animals in Risk (F.A.I.R.) in December of 2002. She had been brought to F.A.I.R.
by a veterinarian who makes frequent trips to Rocky Point, Mexico, to rescue
abandoned and neglected dogs. Mara was found at a dump in Rocky Point, brought
back to Tucson, spayed, and treated for ticks before being taken to F.A.I.R.
She had just been at F.A.I.R. for a matter of hours before Elizabeth fell
in love and brought her home. All of the information on Mara has to be deduced,
as there is no real background on her, given her circumstances. Based on
when she lost her teeth, her date of birth is believed to be around August
of 2002. Based on her size and body shape, she is likely a smooth coat Border
Collie mix. Mara was named by taking the Spanish word for ocean ("Mar")
and adding a feminine "a" to the end.
There are also three cats sharing the residence; Elf, Myster Y, and
Squinty. Elf was adopted from The Humane Society of Southern Arizona approximately twelve
years ago. She is a medium hair tabby with white, black, grey, and tan markings.
She has very large, gorgeous green eyes and spots and stripes of black on
most of her body. Myster Y was purchased from The Puppy Place in Tucson, Arizona,
approximately eight years ago. He is a medium hair tabby with a black coat
and yellow-green eyes. Squinty was adopted from F.A.I.R. in August of 2003 when he was approximately 13 weeks
old. He is a short hair tabby with a blue coat and yellow-green eyes. Elf and
Myster Y get along famously, though the adjustment to the youngest cat has been
difficult. They are all fixed and remain indoor cats.
